Spacer FR is a flame-retardant mid layer developed for additional insulation in cold and demanding working environments. The specialised spacer construction creates air pockets that enhance warmth while maintaining low weight and excellent breathability.

An advanced mid-layer developed to provide maximum insulation without added weight. The garments feature a three-dimensional knit structure with wool on both inner and outer surfaces, while the Spacer yarn maintains distance between the layers. This creates air pockets that trap and circulate warm air, enhancing thermal insulation and wearer comfort in demanding conditions.Thanks to its design, SPACER FR delivers the same thermal performance as heavier mid-layers – at significantly lower weight, while maintaining excellent breathability. Wool’s natural properties ensure effective moisture management and temperature regulation, and the flame-resistant and antistatic fibres provide certified protection against heat, flame, arc flash, and static electricity.Physiological laboratory tests conducted at SINTEF confirm that SPACER FR achieves equal insulation performance as heavier garments, with notably reduced weight. The result is a technical mid-layer that combines comfort, low weight, and high protection, a breakthrough in flame-resistant wool innovation.
